ICCWA aims to provide a high quality statewide community information and referral service in injury prevention using various means of communication. The Council provides a referral and information service consisting of expert advice and supporting materials in response to queries from members of the public, media, students, educational institutions, government and non-government agencies and members of parliament.
ICCWA holds monthly lunchtime forums and is assisting others to build networks among people with an interest in injury prevention. The injury forums have been conducted at ICCWA since April 2002 and enable organisations to showcase their projects or activities, and provide the audience with the opportunity to network. Forums have covered a variety of topics and have attracted diverse audiences from a broad range of organisations.
ICCWA regularly provides opportunities for workplace experience for tertiary students and graduates.
ICCWA has continued to assist other agencies by representation, providing information and assisting in addressing identified needs such as writing grant proposals, assisting with governance issues, formulating business plans, project planning and management. Staff have also given guest lectures on a range of injury prevention topics at each of the Western Australian universities.
