Deborah Costello
Chief Executive Officer
Deborah Costello is currently the CEO of the Injury Control Council WA. She has almost 20 years experience working with a range of government, non-government and not-for-profit organisations. She has worked across the health, community care and injury prevention sectors and has gained experience in areas such as partnership development, community engagement, policy development and analysis, strategic and business planning and program design, management and implementation. Deborah is on the Management Committee of the Australian Safe Communities Foundation Inc and has recently been appointed as Chair of the Injury Prevention Working Group. Deborah also has a strong commitment to volunteering and in her spare time sits on the Board of three community based organisations.

Michelle Taylor
Manager Falls Prevention Programs
Michelle joined ICCWA in October 2009 as Manager Falls Prevention Programs.  Michelle is in the unique position of spending two years as an ICCWA Board Member and participating in ICCWA’s strategic directions, and now swaps roles to become a staff member.  Michelle has been the Executive Officer of Farmsafe WA Alliance for the past four years and brings to ICCWA not only a strong rural network but a passionate belief in promoting safety in our community.

Marina Johns
Project Coordinator, Resilience Project –  South West
Marina Johns has previously worked as a registered nurse for 25 years, including in rural communities as a diabetes, cancer support and palliative care nurse. At the end of 2003, Marina gained a Bachelor of Health Science (Health Promotion) and has since worked in the area of health promotion. Marina commenced with ICCWA in February 2005 as Project Officer for the Understanding and Building Resilience (U&BR) Project in the south west region of WA.  The Project focuses on what communities can do to prevent suicide – with community resilience being the central theme.

Mary Ashe

Mary Ashe
Manager Alcohol Projects
Mary joined the ICCWA team in March 2010 and has worked in the human services field for many years, working with young people and people with disabilities in areas of service delivery, advocacy and policy.  Prior to working at ICCWA Mary was the Youth Services Manager at the City of Cockburn Youth Services for nine years and brings with her a wealth of knowledge around youth engagement strategies, issues affecting young people and the youth services sector in general.  Mary has a particular interest in promoting good mental health through community education.

Sarina

Sarina Radici
Manager Professional Development Services
Sarina joined the ICCWA team in August 2010. Sarina has worked in the health promotion field for many years, with a focus on social marketing. Sarina has qualifications in marketing and health promotion and extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector. Prior to joining ICCWA Sarina has worked for the Department of Health, the Heart Foundation WA and Cancer Council WA.

Shelley O’Brien
Project Officer South West
Shelley commenced in January 2009 as a part time Project Officer for the South West Suicide Prevention – Resilience Project.   Shelley has worked in the government health sector as a community nurse for 12 years and has completed post grad studies in Family and Community Health at Curtin University.  Shelley has worked in the rural communities of Kalgoorlie, Carnarvon, Roebourne and Geraldton before returning to her home town of Busselton in 2002.  Since returning to Busselton, she has worked in the Bunbury and Margaret River areas as a community nurse.  She has a particular interest in adolescent health and a passion for Health Promotion.

Shaun Nannup
Manager  Aboriginal Projects
Shaun joined ICCWA in February 2009 as a part time Indigenous Project Officer.  Shaun has previously worked in community based roles in the metropolitan as well as rural areas and will be working closely with the South West Suicide Prevention – Understanding and Building Resilience Project.  Through cross-cultural awareness talks with Senior Elders of the Indigenous community, Shaun brings an in-depth knowledge and a variety of established networks to this project.

Shelley Harwood
Education Coordinator, Falls
Prevention Programs
Shelley joined ICCWA in September 2009.  Shelley has had extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector where she has worked with Kidney Health Australia as Health Services Manager WA. Her work has also included the Department of Health with experience in a hospital setting.  Shelley has a Bachelor of Science degree (Health Promotion) and has an interest in community development and education. Shelley’s main responsibility is advising and supporting agencies, organisations and community groups to conduct falls prevention education initiatives and activities.

Jody Niven
Project Officer
Jody has recently rejoined ICCWA on a part time basis after maternity leave.  She has a Bachelor of Science Degree (health promotion) and has extensive experience in project management, communictions and marketing as well as corporate health promotion.  Jody previously worked on the Stay On Your Feet WA® program at ICCWA, but currently is working with the team to develop partnerships for Community Safety Month.

Tammy Page
Project Officer, Falls Prevention Programs
Tammy is a Falls Prevention Project Officer at ICCWA and has qualifications in Public Health and Human Movement and Exercise Science from the University of Western Australia. Tammy joined ICCWA in March 2008 and has been coordinating and developing resources for the statewide falls prevention resource and information centre. Tammy has also assisted the Alcohol Manager of the Safer Bars Project.

Sarai Stevely
Volunteering Coordinator, Falls Prevention Programs
Sarai joined ICCWA in June 2010 as our Volunteering Coordinator.  Sarai works on a part time basis and is responsible for the recruitment, orrientation, support and development of our volunteers.  Sarai has previous recruitment experience and has spent the last five years working within the community aged care sector.  Sarai is currently completing a Bachelor of Community Development.

Sarah McKerracher
Project Officer, Youth Engagement and Alcohol Projects
Sarah currently works across two project areas: engaging with young people around their perceptions of safety, and expanding the advocacy role of our alcohol projects portfolio.   Sarah joined ICCWA in July 2008 after working in Canberra with the Department of Health and Ageing’s graduate program and has qualifications in Public Health and Human Movement and Exercise Science from the University of Western Australia.  Sarah’s role involves coordinating the ‘Our Space, Safe Place’ project, developing further initiatives to engage with young people, and supporting the Manager of Alcohol Projects to advocate and address issues resulting from alcohol related harm.

Zoe Cooper
Community Engagement Officer
Zoe joined ICCWA in August 2010. Zoe has many years experience in the primary health sector where she worked on various projects at a General Practice Network. Zoe has a Bachelor of Health Science degree (Health promotion) from Edith Cowan University. Zoe’s main responsibilities include coordinating Community Safety Month, liaising with the media and coordinating the mall walking program.

Kylie

Kylie Marchewka
Project Assistant
Kyie joined us on a full time basis as of October 2009 – working 2 days a week with the Stay On Your Feet WA® team where she is responsible for developing the Stay on Your Feet WA® Newsletter “News and Views”, Stay On Your Feet WA® “e-Bulletin” and assists in the coordination of Stay On Your Feet® Week. For the remaining 3 days, Kylie assists on the Injury Prevention Professional Development project. Kylie undertook a successful student practice placement with ICCWA in order to complete her Bachelor of Science (Health Promotion) degree at Curtin University of Technology early in 2009.

Melinda

Melinda Hailstone
Project Assistant
Melinda recently graduated from Curtin University of Technology with a Bachelor of Science (Health Promotion) degree. She commenced full time employment with ICCWA in March 2010 after volunteering with the organisation in 2009 in the area of Mall Walking.  Melinda has joined the Stay On Your Feet WA® team where she is responsible for organising expos and displays. Melinda also works closely with the Volunteering Coordinator to provide support to our volunteers.

Rachael

Rachael Stampfli
Project Officer, Aboriginal Projects
Rachael joined ICCWA at the start of 2010, working with Shaun Nannup on the ‘Healing Through the Map’ projects.  Rachael’s background is in education where her focus has been on curriculum development and cross-cultural awareness.   Rachael has taught in Chile and Australia, worked in volunteer community outreach programs in Latin America and supported the work of Habitat for Humanity in Chile.    She is currently undertaking a MA at ECU where her focus is on Indigenous learning communities. Rachael is a traveller but finds herself very happy to be settled in at ICCWA.

Sally Baker
Administration Officer
Sally joined ICCWA in July 2006 in the role of Administration Officer. Sally has worked in office administration for the past few years after a long career as a Director’s Assistant with ABC Radio and Television in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney. Sally assists the Chief Executive Officer and also coordinates the ICCWA Newsletter, lunchtime forums, and a number of major events during the year.

Monica joined ICCWA in March 2009.  Working 4 days a week Monica manages all the financial activities of ICCWA  and assists the CEO and Project Officers with project management.  Monica has extensive experience in accounting procedures and is an asset to ICCWA.
